When oh when are they going to update that insanely arcane iCal "feature" on .Mac. Why isn't it easy to access my calendars from my .Mac homepage? And WHY can't I ADD an event from .Mac. So frustrating.

More importantly -- why get locked into a 2 year service agreement to a 3G iPhone when there are 4G phones available?
You might not need or want 4G/LTE right now, but why limit yourself when the NextBigThing might require a high-speed connection.

I'm surprised it isn't mentioned here (let alone searching the forums came up with zero hits). iAlert (http://angeman.perso.cegetel.net/iAlert/en/) is a little preference pane that lets you put various bezels on your desktop. Not as cool as konfabulator, and useless whentiger/dashboard is released, but still pretty cool.
This looks to be the same kind of app as Growl (http://growl.info/) which someone did mention in this thread.

With two 580's is there any way to get SLI mode working? I know certain GPU applications will see both cards without SLI mode(Cuda reads device ID), but I was curious to know if a 2010 MacPro can do SLI with Nvidia drivers, or if the drivers have to be hacked.

The solution is to get management using Macs.
I'm lucky to be working for a company whose founders are Mac addicts. Everything works on a Mac; as a side effect, 99% is available to Linux users too since Apple is good at keeping to standard protocols (we have been forced onto MS Online Exchange which is okay with the Mac these days, but without IMAP enabled everyone else is screwed over).
Basically because Macs have been here since day one, nearly 10 years ago, there has been no question of legacy Windows systems or adopting technology that Mac clients can't work with.
We were recently bought out by a large corporate. There were moves to standardise onto Windows laptops out of cost concerns. A free 17" 2010 MBP was found for the guy who came in from the corporation to reorganise us and, like magic, Macs are back on the purchase lists.
Saying that, a previous company I worked with didn't have any legacy issues either, but was founded with a MSDN subscription in hand. Therefore, because there was all this 'free' software available, they got locked into using it. It simply wasn't possible to gain traction with Mac or Linux or anything non-Windows there.

Its just that at the moment I've got the fan plugged into a 12v supply and its running max rpm all the time. I would like to get it temperature controlled to keep the noise down even more.

For this id use the 3rd party plug-in Melodyne, but that cost over $500.
There could be cheaper plug-ins, search for autotune or something.
Or i suppose you could copy the notes you need to change to a separate track and change the pitch of the track... now thats thinking outside the box ey..

I recently bought a macbook pro, and the only thing i dont like is that i keep (mistakenly) expanding websites, the desktop, etc, with my fingers on the trackpad... I went to the preferences but couldn't figure out how to shut "zooming" off?!

Looks like somebody doesn't know how to read an annual report.
AT&T (the whole company) generated $31.36 billion in revenue for ALL of 2010.
(2010 Q4 total revenue (wireless and wireline) was $9.6 billion, with $6.6 billion of that allocated to capital expenses.)
Of the $31.36 billion earned in $15.18 billion came from the wireless unit.
The rest was from wireline (U-Verse) services.
Out of that $31.36 billion, AT&T had $20.3 billion in capital expenses.
That leaves just a hair over $10 billion for upgrades and any new R&D.
Their LTE roll out is expected to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $19 billion dollars.
So yeah... they need the money to expand while remaining profitable.
The question is, who is willing to pay it?
My guess is most will and AT&T knows it.
Sigh, excuse me. I mis-stated the 4Q numbers.
With that said, all of your numbers still convinces me that thinking a $50 increase is in anyway a "needed" plan by AT&T is unpersuasive.
