Can you please post the document it self, so that I can download it, as I cannot access google documents from my work place and hope others are also facing this issue, can you please post the documents on the main page so that we can download it from this site rather than going to google documents.

Near the start of his Nov. 4, 2003, program on CNN, Lou Dobbs said, One-third of the inmates now serving time in federal prisons come from some other country one-third. Later, he offered more details: Coming up, were going to take a further look at the impact of illegal aliens. And it is an expensive proposition, particularly in our nations prisons. Illegal aliens, those citizens noncitizens taking up a third of the cells in our federal penitentiaries.
He also said that illegal immigrants were an increasing part of Americas prison population.
Here are the facts, according to the Department of Justice:
In 2000, 27 percent of the inmates in federal prisons were noncitizens. Some of these noncitizens were illegal immigrants, and some were in this country legally. In 2001, this percentage dropped to 24 percent, and it continued dropping over the next four years, falling to 20 percent in 2005.
Bottom line: illegal immigrants make up significantly less than a third of the federal prison population, and the share has been falling in recent years.
The share of state prison inmates who are noncitizens is much lower. (This is largely because immigration violations themselves are federal crimes.) In 2000, 4.6 percent of inmates in state prisons were noncitizens. This number remained quite steady over the next five years, right around 4.6 percent.
Over all combining federal and state prisons 6.4 percent of the nations prisoners were noncitizens in 2005. This is down from 6.8 percent in 2000.
By comparison, 6.9 percent of the total United States population were noncitizens in 2003, according to the Census Bureau.
Anne Morrison Piehl, an economist at Rutgers, says there are a number of reasons that immigrants have a lower crime rate than the native-born population. (To read a paper by Ms. Piehl and Kristin Butcher on immigrants and crime, click here.)
For one thing, the consequences of being arrested can be enormous for illegal immigrants, which is an obvious deterrent to crime. For another, immigrants, as a group, arent typical of the population. The fact that they have picked up and moved to another country suggests that they have more ambition, and perhaps even more skill, than the average person. This could help explain why the United States, a nation of immigrants, is such an economic powerhouse.

This helps answer my question. I am a little unclear about promotions and whether that will qualify one for a new labor, etc. I personally am not planning to change anything at the moment. My promotion, etc is not being stalled because of my status. So I am OK. Thanks again for your answer.
Yes, promotions will qualify you and by promotion I mean a more Senior position, that needs more experience or an Advanced degree. Basically its just like you are applying for a NEW job altogether. You will need to file a new Labor and then I-140, but this time in EB2.

Called the DOS. Told them I need to travel to my home country and asked them if they can verify if my information is in PIMS. She asked if the H1-B is an extension case which it is. She said the extension cases are taking a bit longer than the new ones. That is quite surprising. Finally she looked in the database or whatever and said they do not have my extension information yet. All they have is the information from the expired petition. No timelines just asked me to call back in a week.
I need to know if anyone had any luck if their lawyers pursued this matter with the DOS.

If rumors are true there is no point in sending I485 application if State dept announces that Visa is not available on July 2nd Morning. If confusion or rumor is cleared then Lawyers can send the application. That stand may be correct. But what if State Dept announces on Wednesday. Then those who are filed on Monday and Tuesday will get EAD and AP. I hope these rumors will not become true
You can sue this firm, if they have really suspended the work on I-485.
How can they react to rumours?

Our parents/relatives do not need a land phone in India. Send one VONAGE adaptor and they can call any number in India (long distance) and to USA and other 60 countries.
They can receive any calls in a Cell phone (prepaid) (in India - incoming is free).
So just take a broadband connection and Vonage. Bye BSNL/VSNL.........
Remember you are talking about INDIA which is not US. you need broadband connection and Electricity for VOIP and you know the availability and reliability of both in INDIA.

Little_Willy,
Yes, it is that simple. If you just walk away from your home, bank can only touch your home and credit history. They can not go after your automobile\gold\savings\other property....anything. You are not missing anything. That is why we are seeing so many people around us just walking away from their homes. Thank God I rent but if my property's value go down 200 k in 2 years, heck I would walk away with a smile on my face. No strings attached.
Walking away would have been difficuly had you put 20% down, i.e. involving your hard earned money in the deal. In that case you would have waited to see the market and hoped that it would revive. If put 0% down and bank has given you 100% loan, then it is the bank who has taken all the risk. You have practially no risk in that deal. Just like cloth....return it to the bank. Hey....you don't have to even clean it up...like you do in the case of apartment move. ;-)
0% down, ARM, interest only.....when all these goodies were floating around, it was hard to resist.
I was absolutely pissed off with the "local" ppl that got greedy and dragged the whole economy with them. Seeing that there are ppl like you (one of us) who are pretty much the same, i am seething with rage. Because of idiots like you, people with a pristine credit history of more than ten years and some saved money cant buy a decent house in the bay area (and elsewhere) and have to see their hard-earned money go down the drain in 401k and stocks.....I wish ppl like you rot in foreclosure hell and no one ever lends credit you, ever again!!!

Your router may have the problem.
You need to buy a good router. Your phone is good with long range.
WiFi is 2.4 GHZ.
5.8 GHZ phone will have many disadvantages.
The BEST choice for cordless phone for range, and lack of interfearance is a DECT phone.. the 1.9Ghz range is a licenced radio frequency for the exclusive use of cordless phones, unlike any other cordless phone frequency (900Mhz, 2.4Ghz, 5.8Ghz.) and as it is lower in frequency (aside from 900 Mhz) it operates with the furthest distance than any cordless phone.
I am using DECT phone. It is mentioned as DECT 6.0
is it same as 1.9GHz or different 6.0 GHz?

If that is the case you have legitimate reason to take this matter with your local congress man if their legal cannot clear them.
Follow the suggestions of experts in this thread. I suggest you to contact your local congressmen. They would definitely help as in my case they did to expedite EAD renewal.

nrk, how long did it take after the status got updated to "Approval Notice Sent" to the cards received by you? I am assuming that "Approval Notice Sent" on 485 is actually mailing the cards out to the applicant. ( That is what happens on 765 (EAD) application all the time).
Received physical cards and welcome notice on the same day.

I have sent an email to the id listed on that site (osccrt@usdoj.gov)with emails from Capital One which says they are not in favor of EADs. Will update once I hear back.
Here is the response for my email sent earlier which I received today. Advices are welcome:
Dear Mr. xxxxx:
Thank you for your e-mail inquiry received by the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration Related Unfair Employment Practices ("OSC") on March 25, 2008. You inquired whether or not an employer engages in unlawful citizenship status discrimination if the employer rejects an applicant for employment because the applicant possesses an H-1B visa and a valid "EAD".
OSC enforces the anti-discrimination provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b. The Act prohibits employers from discriminating on the basis of citizenship status or national origin with respect to hiring, firing, and recruitment or referral for a fee, unfair documentary practices with respect to verification of employment eligibility, and retaliation. Citizenship status discrimination occurs when individuals are rejected for employment or fired because they are U.S. citizens or because of their immigration status or type of work authorization. The Act does not protect all groups of workers from citizenship status discrimination. U.S. citizens, most permanent residents and temporary residents, asylees, and refugees are protected from citizenship status discrimination. Other classifications of workers like H-1B visa holders are not protected from citizenship status discrimination.
It is not possible to determine whether you suffered unlawful citizenship status discrimination based on the information you provided in your e-mail. If you believe you have suffered citizenship status discrimination, you or your representative may file a charge of citizenship status discrimination in hiring, firing, or recruitment or referral for a fee directly with OSC. OSC will review your complete charge and investigate to determine whether there is reason to believe you have suffered citizenship status discrimination in violation of 8 U.S.C. 1324b. For more information on the charge filing process, please visit our website at - http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/osc. In addition, individuals may download the charge form from this website. Please note that charges of discrimination must be filed within 180 days from the date of the alleged discrimination. You may send the completed charge form to OSC via facsimile at (202) 616-5509, or by first-class mail to: Office of Special Counsel for Immigration Related Unfair Employment Practices; 950 Pennsylvania Ave., NW; NYAV Building, 9th Floor; Washington, D.C. 20530.
Thank you once again for your correspondence. We hope this information is of assistance to you. If you have any questions or need additional information regarding immigration-related unfair employment practices, you may contact OSC at 1-800-255-8155 (toll-free).

Note:
This Lawsuit Idea is on hold for the following reasons:
a) Not enough interest in the affected parties
b) Cost of the litigation would be upwards of around 30K
c) The counsel has recommended to hold discussions with USCIS official first and give them sufficient time to respond to our concerns.
But we are following up on other avenues.
